Chris Dawson is a Consultant Urological Surgeon at the Peterborough City Hospital, Cambridgeshire.
He trained at University College London, qualifying in 1986, having taken an intercalated BSc in Immunology. Following his FRCS examination in London in 1990 he undertook a Surgical Registrar rotation in Portsmouth before starting his MS Thesis at St Bartholomew’s Hospital.
On completion of his MS Thesis he began his higher training in Urology at the Battle Hospital in Reading, moving on to the Institute of Urology in London and then to Peterborough as a Senior Registrar. During his time as a Senior Registrar in Peterborough he co-authored the popular BMA Publication “ABC of Urology” with Hugh Whitfield.
He was appointed Consultant Urologist in Peterborough in December 1996 and now has 21 years experience in his field. He has written 54 papers; as well as co-editing the ABC of Urology (now in its 3rd edition) he also co-edited The Evidence for Urology (TFM Publishing Ltd). This won first prize in the Urology section of the BMA Medical Book Competition in 2005.
He has built up an extensive network of referring Solicitors. He has undertaken medicolegal work since 2004 and has now written over 850 reports and numerous Fitness to Practice Reports for the General Medical Council.
In 2008 Chris completed a Graduate Diploma in Law (LLDip) with the College of Law.
In his leisure time he runs marathons, competes in triathlon and he became an Ironman in 2015. He holds a first dan black belt in Aikido and a brown belt (1st Kyu) in Shotokan Karate.
